Our flagship innovation is the Thrasher surface aerator which delivers exceptional oxygen transfer rates and intensive mixing. The impeller is engineered to displace large volumes of water and introduce powerful churning and recirculation into the basin to dramatically improve oxygen mass transfer and aeration. The impeller efficiency was tested according to ASCE[2-06] to confirm performance.

In this video, you can see how Zentec tested and simulated prototype surface aerator designs to improve the aeration efficiency.
We simulated 18 different impeller configurations varying blade number, width and tip angles until we arrived at the Thrasher. Then we verified the results with power number testing to validate the simulation. We could then move onto testing mass transfer in a pilot scale test rig according to ASCE 2-06 to determine the oxygen mass transfer efficiency.

CFD Optimized Hydraulics & Mixing
We use Computational Fluid Dynamics to model the important flow features in including spray distance and shape, velocities on the surface and the tank floor. This guarantees complete tank mixing, eliminating dead zones even in deep or irregularly shaped basins. CFD allows us to evaluate the impeller characteristics like the pumping capacity and the absorbed power.
FEA Verified Mechanical Strength
Using Finite Element Analysis, we evaluate bending moments, and torsional stresses exerted on the drive shafts and impellers. Our units withstand the continuous, violent structural loads inherent to surface aeration. This gives us a basis for evaluating fatigue life.
High-Strength Industrial Customization
Industrial wastewater demands specialized mechanical resilience. We custom-engineer our aerators to handle the unique chemical and biological loads of high-strength industrial streams, including food and beverage processing, abattoirs, dairies, and textile plants. This ensures that routine maintenance or emergency servicing can be resolved using off-the-shelf parts available right here in South Africa, eliminating the months-long lead times associated with proprietary overseas imports.
Adaptable Infrastructure Retrofitting
Upgrading an underperforming or aging plant shouldn't require rebuilding concrete infrastructure. Our aerators are designed with adaptable mounting frames and adjustable footprints, allowing them to be dropped directly onto existing concrete plinths or civil bridges with minimal modification, stripping away unnecessary civil works costs.
